Visual search engine coming to iPhone in June
The iPhone SDK will bring thousands of new applications to the iPhone and iPod Touch that weren’t possible to make in the past. Evolution Robotics is creating a revolutionary visual search technology they call ViPR – and it’s coming to the iPhone this June. ViPR lets you take a photo with you’re iPhone’s built-in camera of any book, movie or CD, send it to their server, and automatically get an e-mail back with all the information about it; YouTube videos, iTunes music store links, Wikipedia links and more.
The iPhone is not the only phone to be treated with ViPR. It will also be deployed in Japan on KDDI’s camera phones this Spring. Check the video after the jump, you’ll see how well this demo of ViPR performs – even when the camera angle is not straight:
Google Sees 50X more searches on iPhone than any other Mobile

iTunes Store now with auto-complete search
Apple has updated iTunes to version 7.4.1 and in addition to the ringtones they have also added auto-complete to the iTunes Store search. Now when you search the iTunes Store you will be given a drop down of possible matches. A great way to search for that song or artist when you are not really more »
Google Search for iPhone
Tech blogger Robert Scoble has confirmed that Google search is now formatted specially for the iPhone. The implementation is slightly shoddy though; it’s limited to a single page of results and the sites displayed may not be formatted for iPhone. On the plus side, you don’t get Google ads. New Spotlight search at Apple.com
Aside from the major redesign on Apple.com, several minor updates were also launched on Apple’s website throughout the week.
