Q&A with Steve Jobs offers interesting responses
As usual, many people wanted to interview Steve Jobs after yesterday’s press event to ask him the questions on the top of every Apple fanboy’s mind. This time around, David Pogue’s interview offered some interesting answers to some pretty good questions about Apple and where the company is going. Want to know why there’s no camera in the iPod touch?
Steve Jobs back at work
In a rambling, largely off-topic article, The LA Times reported this morning that Apple, Inc. co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs is spending a few days a week back in his office, according to Apple spokesman Steve Dowling. “He’s currently at work a few days a week and working from home the remaining days,” Dowling said.
Steve Jobs had a liver transplant, to be back within days
There were reports a while back that Steve Jobs was “healthy and energetic,” but more recent news from the Wall Street Journal is even better. According to them, Steve Jobs “… received a liver transplant in Tennessee about two months ago …” and is expected to make his return later this month as initially declared by Apple. However, they do point out that it may only be part time, at first.
WWDC rumor roundup
With the 2009 Worldwide Developers Conference less than a week away, there’s plenty of speculation of what new products Apple will announce (especially after the dud that was MacWorld Expo). Here’s a roundup of the latest speculation (Snow Leopard, iPhone, Mac Netbook, Mac Tablet, Stevenote) along with the liklihood of it happening.
Steve Jobs “healthy and energetic” according to Woz
Steve Jobs will not be returning to Apple for a while still, yet some new quotes from Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, have given insight into the state of his health. According to The Wall Street Journal, Woz was quoted as saying that Jobs “… doesn’t sound like he’s sick …” but rather sounds “… healthy, energetic.” Although he wasn’t directly asked about Jobs’ health, this may be all he would have said anyway. If Woz noticed such a revival, hopefully we can hope that Steve Jobs still has enough in him to work full time at Apple again.
Write your own Steve Jobs story
It’s the fun new game for the whole family! Write a story about Steve Jobs’ imminent, unpreventable demise and post it to the internet. MacJournals shows you how!
Woz talks about Jobs and Apple (video)
Who better to analyze Apple CEO Steve Jobs’ leave of absence than the Steve Wozniak? While appearing on CNBC, he did just that. And in the process of doing so, Woz also gave some insight as to how Apple plans and makes its products. Last week Steve “The Woz” Wozniak made it pretty clear how he felt about the media and their coverage of Jobs’ health.
The Keynote Conspiracy
Did Apple pull the major announcement (the “one more thing”) from this year’s Macworld Expo keynote in anticipation of Steve Jobs’ health announcement? My reasoning goes like this: First, Apple had something really cool to announce at Macworld Expo 2009. Something that would have taken up the big empty space at their booth. We heard rumors that after the Expo, Apple was going to announce a new Mac mini as well as something so big that the rest of the news would pale beside it. A Mac netbook? Opening the iPhone to other carriers? We couldn’t find out.
Jobs to have pancreas removed? Shareholders not happy with Apple
Connie Guglielmo, Rochelle Garner and Jason Gale reported for Bloomberg this morning that Apple CEO Steve Job may need to have his pancreas removed, if Robert Thomas, head of surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, is correct. Thomas was the first to perform the Whipple operation—which involves removing parts of the pancreas, bile duct and small intestine, and which sometimes results in having to remove the entire pancreas. Jobs underwent a procedure similar to the Whipple operation after he was diagnosed with a rare type of pancreatic cancer in 2004. It should be noted, though, that Thomas is not Jobs’ doctor, and doesn’t know the details of his condition.
