Fling analog joystick for iPad review

After using Fling for a month now, I really want to tell you that if you’re at all serious about iPad gaming, you need one of these. Two of them, even. But in doing so, I would be misleading you slightly. This is because your need for Fling will depend entirely upon your game library. If you’re more about casual games, you’ll have no nee for this. But if you know what a virtual d-pad is, you need Fling. In fact, you need two.

Macworld 2011: Appletell’s favorite products

Macworld Expo 2011 was confined to Moscone North last year, and moved over to Moscone West this year. Despite the smaller show floor, there were still a lot of great products to try out. Here are the three items on hand at Macworld Expo that most impressed the Appletell writers in attendance: two devices to improve your channel surfing, and one to improve your gaming.

Macworld 2011: Day three recap [video]

Macworld 2011 has come and gone, but its legacy remains here at Appletell, thanks to our video recaps. Tonight, we wrap it all up, take a look at Macworld Best of Show winner Fling from Ten 1 Design, give you a video glimpse of what it was like to be here, look forward to 2010, and listen to two of our favorite new developers sing a traditional German drinking song. See you next year.

CES 2011: Tactile gaming feedback for iPad

Here’s one I’m quite curious to try out, as I’m sure anyone is who’s tried to play an action game on the iPad. Ten One Design has announced its tactile game controller for iPad: Fling. The patent pending device can be attached to the iPad’s screen to deliver much more precise control and response. No more losing control of your character because your thumb unwittingly slipped off the virtual d-pad.

Appletell reviews Autograph for Mac OS X

Using Autograph with the Pogo Sketch input stylus, you can doodle on your MacBook multi-touch trackpad. Draw a little picture, if you like, but the main selling point here is the ability to quickly and easily add your signature to a document. Well, somewhat easily, anyway. The software lags behind your pen stroke, and looking at the screen while signing on the trackpad is a bit awkward. So although you can sign your name, it’ll be a pretty clumsy autograph you’re sending out there.

Gain more volume with SoundClip for iPhone

How often do you find yourself playing a game on your iPhone in landscape mode, but then realize you’re blocking the little speaker? The SoundClip from Ten One Design aims to make this a thing of the past. The small plastic clip connects to the standard 30-pin dock connector with a cone over the speaker. The “tuned conical deflection chamber” allows more sound waves to come in your direction, giving up to 10dB more volume, and brightens the mid-ranges of the sounds. Its profile is small and doesn’t look out of place when its being used. While synchronizing and charging, it clips securely onto the USB cable.

Quick look: Pogo Stylus for iPhone, iPod touch

I recently had the chance to try out the Pogo Stylus from Ten One Design. It is one of few styli that is compatible with the iPhone and iPod touch. The design is quite simple—a small fuzzy tip and a small pen, about the length of the iPhone. It comes with a clip for keeping it with the iPhone, but it still seems quite inevitable that many will be lost.

Black Friday online: Pogo Stylus for iPhone/iPod touch just $14.96

Even better, they’re throwing in USPS shipping for free. The Pogo Stylus gives iPhone and iPod touch users greater control over their more »
