The Lads from Liverpool puts Beatles fans to the test

The Lads from Liverpool

There aren’t many bands to which we’ll dedicate coverage here at Appletell, but we do make exceptions. The first is Wall of Voodoo, but they continue to be sorely under-represented in the app world. The second is The Beatles, and they’re faring a bit better. Take, for instance, TourBuddy Systems’ The Lads from Liverpool trivia app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

The Beatles come to iTunes…again

A little over a year ago, Apple finally secured the ability to add The Beatles’ catalogue to iTunes. If you haven’t yet dug into what is arguably the greatest collection of music in rock/pop history, Rolling Stone would like to help you along. The magazine, thanks in part to Managing Editor Inc. MEI, has announced The Beatles Ultimate Album-by-Album Guide is now available for iPad.

Yoko Ono says Beatles still not coming to iTunes

The idea of the Beatles coming to iTunes has been perhaps the longest standing rumor surrounding iTunes and music in general over the past few years. It seems as if almost anytime Apple has a press event regarding iPods and iTunes, these rumors start to resurface. However, according to a recent statements from Yoko Ono, it appears as if we shouldn’t expect this rumor to become true anytime soon.

CES 2010: MusicSkins announces Beatles themed skins

MusicSkins announced their new Beatles themed skins for a plethora of devices—from laptops and netbooks to iPods and iPhones. If it’s a digital device, then MusicSkins wants to skin it, and now you can get those skins with the Beatles on them. Think of it, now your iPod or iPhone can step into the skin of the Beatles, and then play their music, which is likely what you’ve wanted it to do all along.

Rumor: Beatles on iTunes…really, for real, they mean it this time

If the heiress of John Lennon is to be believed (that’s Yoko Ono), then tomorrow’s special event might finally bring the Beatles to iTunes. Yoko’s comment made a brief appearance on Sky News and then quickly vanished thanks to the powers that be. The only remaining evidence is thanks to some quick eyes at 9to5Mac and a partial Google cache. Just to balance it out a bit, The Financial Times is reporting just the opposite.

Beatles remasters; same day as Apple’s rumored press event

No matter how big the iTunes store has become, there’s always been one band in particular that has been missing: The Beatles. We’ve all heard their music in one form or another, but if you wanted to download an album or track from iTunes, you were met with a collection of covers and tribute bands. Maybe that’s about to change as they release their entire catalogue remastered in stereo. When? The same day as Apple’s rumored press event.

McCartney wants Beatles+iTunes deal, talks have stalled

What’s holding up the release of the Beatles catalog on iTunes? Not (Sir) Paul McCartney, who told the press that while talks have stalled, he wants it to happen.

“The last word I got back was it’s stalled at the whole moment, the whole process,” the former Beatle said Monday. “I really hope it will happen because I think it should.”

McCartney, who was speaking at the launch of his new album, Electric Arguments, added: “It’s between EMI and the Beatles, I think.”

McCartney is, of course, best known for writing the theme song to Spies Like Us.
