Free Apps Roundup for April 8th, 2011

This week on the Free Apps Roundup: it’s games week. I found a ton of free games that are sure to keep you occupied for some time to come, but many of them are free for a limited time only. This week also saw the release of The Onion’s official iPad app, a great cartoonifying video app, an ad-only app from Apple (as if we needed more ads) and a live streaming ESPN app for all the sports fans out there.

The Onion App released for iPad

The Onion, our preeminent satire newspaper, now has an app for the iPad. It already had one for the iPhone. Here’s my question: do you need an app for a web page? Everything that’s on the app is on the web page. Videos, stories, the whole schmear. And while I love The Onion and read it every day, I read it on my web browser. So. Here’s the app, which is free (and ad supported, like the web page).

The Onion compares Mac OS X Snow Leopard and Windows 7

Neither Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Microsoft Windows 7 have been released to the public yet. They both promise to be a nice improvement from that last release of each OS and offer some interesting new capabilities. Despite not being on the market yet, The Onion decided that now would be a good time to compare them and see how they do against each other in some very important aspects. They have even created a nice, easy to read chart with their analysis.

Check that chart out after the break.
