CES 2012: Mimoco announces new USB minifigs

mimomicro-2012-ces

There’s no denying that a major problem facing the U.S.A. is a lack of things you can buy that feature licensed representations of the intellectual property of major corporations. Fortunately, companies are working night and day to address this issue. To wit: Mimoco has announced that soon you’ll be able to tell the world that you, yes you, approve of the “Star Wars” and “Super Friends” by proudly displaying them as superdeformed figures on your USB drive.

Macworld 2011: Tronworld 2011

You all saw that Macworld iPad Legacy video, the right? The Macworld Expo 2011 promo inspired Tron: Legacy? If you were at the Expo, you likely saw it on the show floor, too; the TVs set up at the entrance included it in their loop. But Tron’s influence didn’t end there. A couple of exhibitors also had their Tron licensed items on display, and another was happy to talk about their Tron merchandise, even if it wasn’t available on the Grid…I mean the show floor.

Appletell reviews SplashID KeySafe USB drive

The SplashID Key Safe is a handy tool if you find yourself using a lot of different computers with which you need to share passwords. It’s a USB drive (2 GB) with software to store and generate passwords, as part of a database that stores other information, too. The SplashID software takes up a tiny amount of the 2GB. After you create a Master ID (and password), it presents you with a simple database program for storing all your personal information.

Appletell review – Mimobot designer USB flash drives

At first glance, Mimobots don’t appear to be computer peripherals at all. They seem more like hip pieces of art or lawn gnomes for the Barbie Dream House, or something of that sort. But they’re actually USB flash drives called Mimobots, and there are a lot of them.

With their caps on, the Mimobots look like weird little people, or, indeed, robots. Some, in fact, are designed to look like specific people or robots; Mimoco has released lines licensed from Star Wars, Halo, and others. Now, I’m not a fan of any Star Wars movie that didn’t involve Luke Skywalker’s hand getting cut off, and I’m too rugged a fellow to get excited about something because it’s “cute,” but take a look at the C-3PO and R2-D2 Mimobots (and read the full review) after the break.
