Final Cut Express and Server discontinued
After the release of Final Cut Pro X yesterday, Apple has decided to discontinue both Final Cut Express and Final Cut Server (along with Final Cut Studio). Those looking for video editing software from Apple will now only have two choices: iMovie or Final Cut Pro X.
Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 review
The big news with Premiere Pro CS5 is that it’s a 64 bit application and has a new rendering engine (dubbed “Mercury”) that greatly increases rendering speed with certain NVIDIA cards. But I edit my short films on a Macbook Pro that’s approaching its two year birthday, and I’ve been using Final Cut Pro for longer than that. So what’s this other professional video editing software like? Pretty impressive, once you get past the alien interface.
iMovie HD 6 no longer available
Today, Apple officially released iLife ’09, which includes iMovie ’09. They also pulled their free download of iMovie HD for iLife ’08 users. I guess it’s time to move on. Apple releases iMovie 7.1.2
Today, Mac users received an iMovie update. Apple has released iMovie 7.1.2. Apple usually doesn’t reveal too much information about its updates, and the iMovie update isn’t any different. When you log onto the Apple support website, the message states, “This update addresses general compatibility issues, improves overall stability, and addresses a number of other minor issues.” The download is 17.9MB.
iMovie is a fabulous movie application developed by Apple, Inc., which allows users to create their own movies. I purchased my 17″ MacBook Pro almost two years ago, and iMovie was an application I used often. I’ve since moved on to Final Cut Express. iMovie was originally released by Apple in 1999 as a Mac OS 8 application.

Final Cut Pro hits major landmark, reaches 1 million mark
Apple’s popular, $1,299 video editing software Final Cut has now reached the 1 million licenses sold mark. It took eight years for Apple to reach this mark but with the recent addition of Final Cut Server, it doesn’t seem like Apple plans on stopping anytime soon.
