WWDC: Apple updates MacBook Pro
In the first of what will be plenty of WWDC announcements, Apple has released an update to their MacBook Pro lines that will be shipping starting today. The new line (15-inch and 17-inch) has a built in SD card slot as well as a better display, and the extended, revolutionary built-in battery that was currently only in the 17-inch MacBook Pro. Although this battery isn’t replaceable, Apple has said that it will get up to 1,000 charges, meaning that you won’t cause harm to the environment like other battery manufacturers (five year life). The backlit keyboard will now be standard, and there is a 13-inch model of the MacBook Pro as well. Most of the machines come with 4GB RAM standard.
Where’s Steve Jobs? WWDC details announced
The latest press release from Apple has outlined a few details about what we’ll be seeing at this years World Wide Developers Conference. The event will begin with the usual keynote from Apple, with Phil Schiller giving a preview of Mac OS X Snow Leopard. We’ll also see the public release of iPhone OS 3.0, but there are two more things that we’d like to see: a new iPhone and Steve Jobs.
Apple’s WWDC event has a date set
Each year, Apple holds an event for developers of Mac OS X and the iPhone OS. This event—The World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC)—is held in the summer months, and Apple have set the dates for this year’s conference as 8th – 12th June 2009. A lot of the event means nothing to a lot of people, unless you’re a part-time coder or have an interest in developing applications for Apple systems. But there’s also a presentation that the rest of the world looks in for.
Hello iPhone SDK Beta 6
Apple iPhone developer’s can now download iPhone beta SDK 6 from Apple as long as they have also downloaded today’s software updates, 10.5.3. iFund only backing two developers?
iFund, the $100 million program set up by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers for the iPhone, is currently only supporting two developers, which means only two apps will come from it so far. Will WWDC make your ISP angry?
According to AppleInsider, build 9D32, which will become Mac OS X 10.5.3, is on track to be ready for release at this years WWDC.
