Purchased button added to App Store and iTunes for iOS
Along with the new implementation of Automatic Downloads within iOS, Apple has also added another new feature within the App Store and iTunes apps. You may recognize the new feature—the “Purchased” button now within the apps—from the WWDC keynote yesterday. Within the App Store, you can find the new button in the Updates tab, while it has become a tab of its own in the iTunes app.
Apple unveils iOS 5
iOS 5, the next major software update for the Apple iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, was unveiled today at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference. The update features a new notification system, revamped system apps, and integration with Apple’s forthcoming iCloud service. The update also features 1,500 new APIs, which will allow software developers to take advantage of the devices in new ways. iOS 5 will be available to developers this week, and to consumers in the fall as a free upgrade.
Verizon iPhone shut out of iCloud beta
When Apple announced the feature set for the upcoming iCloud service, one of the things they mentioned was that users could try one of the features now: syncing purchased music between devices in iOS 4.3. Small problem, though: Verizon iPhones don’t run iOS 4.3. When Apple released that update, the major feature included was the ability to create personal hotspots on your AT&T (GSM) phone… a feature that Verizon iPhones had when they shipped. First set of WWDC 2010 banner photos emerge
Well, that didn’t take long. Adam Jackson has posted a set of photos showing the building and banners of this year’s WWDC. As with last year’s WWDC banners, it appears the emphasis will be the App Store and development for those mobile platforms (sorry, Mac devs!). Some of the stats displayed on this year’s banners include “4 Billion App Downloaded” and “200,000 Apps on the App Store.” Wow.
