WWDC is upon us. That’s great news for all Macintosh, iPhone and iPod owners, but it can come with a tinge of sadness. After all, we can’t all upgrade to the new hardware that Apple is sure to announce. To cushion the blow, the fine folks at Just Mobile have offered us three products to give away to Appletell readers: the Xtand for iPhone and iPod touch, and the Cooling Bar for Apple laptops.

I’m a big fan of my neck. I greatly enjoy the way it holds up my head, allowing me to turn it when I so desire. To show my neck how much I appreciate the bang-up job its done so far, I try to put as little stress on it as possible, which is just one reason why all laptop users who often find themselves doing work at their desk should consider a laptop stand. In this review, I’ll take a look at two: JustMobile’s Xtand Pro and Griffin Technology’s Elevator.

Okay, before we get to the showdown, why do you need a stand for your iPhone in the first place? Simple. A dock (and quite obviously a cable) just doesn’t cut it when it comes to accessibility. The dock is too close to the desk it sits on, and has no options whatsoever. The iPhone can’t be tilted or lifted for a better viewing angle, and it can’t be rotated to watch a video in landscape. All of these things are possible with a stand.
