Zenith’s new DTT901 digital TV converter box has analog pass-through capability – meaning it is able to pick up and display low-power stations that have not yet converted to digital. The device is smaller than a hardback book (8 inches by 7 inches by 2 inches) and comes with a universal remote offering one-touch closed captioning control, a “What’s on Next” program guide button, a “sleep” timer and a button that will allow the viewer to check for signal strength when the tuner is dialed into a particular channel. The box exceeds Energy Star requirements, drawing just five watts in active mode and less than half a watt in standby; it also automatically shuts off after four hours of inactivity. The device comes with a simple connection guide and information for accessing Zenith’s toll-free consumer hotline for setup and operational assistance. It is priced at $59.95.
