Brookstone said Wednesday that it will continue to grant customers 25 percent savings when they present a gift card from rival retailer Sharper Image, a program the speciality retailer began earlier this year when Sharper Image entered bankruptcy.
The initial deal had been offered by Brookstone in February, after Sharper Image announced that due to its bankruptcy, it would no longer honor its own gift cards. That chain last week received permission from a U.S. Bankruptcy Court to sell off $50 million in assets.
“We want consumers to know that regardless of what happens to Sharper Image, they are welcome at Brookstone,” Brookstone’s CEO, Lou Mancini, said in a statement. “If you own a Sharper Image gift card, no matter the amount, you can bring it to a Brookstone store for some pretty significant savings.”
The offer is only good at Brookstone store locations, and not online, and does not apply to products from Bose, Panasonic, Power Plate, Sony or Tempur-Pedic. The gift cards equal a 25 percent discount regardless of the amount on them.

Great post. I work for a company that manages and tracks gift cards, and we blogged about this issue on savvywallet.com. Now, sharper image is still accepting their cards, you just have to spend twice the value of it in order to redeem it. KNBC reported on it about a week ago:
