Sony on Thursday announced the upcoming release of two new personal media player series that bring back the company’s famed Walkman brand, with video capability for the first time. The launch had been rumored for some time.
The new players, coming in five different colors and various capacities, will range in price from $140 to $230 for the NWZ-A810, and $120 to $210 for the NWZ-S610. The players are expected to arrive in December.
Sony also announced that it is pulling the plug on its Sony Connect music download service.
A company executive told Reuters that Sony hopes to gain 10 percent of the PMP market in the U.S.
