HP’s upcoming MediaSmart Connect digital media receiver will include a special twist: full-screen YouTube clips. The companies announced Wednesday that users of the MediaSmart TV and the MediaSmart Connect set-top box will have a chance to view their favorite YouTube channels, just by logging into their accounts.
HP had already reached similar deals with Snapfish and CinemaNow.
“With the addition of YouTube to the HP MediaSmart platform, consumers will have even more ways to enjoy the latest entertainment on the Internet,” HP’s vice president of marketing and services for Connected Entertainment Business said as part of the announcement.
In an interview Thursday with the Web site Beet.tv, Montalvo said that the quality of the videos made available will be H.264, which is close to HD-quality.
