Pepcom’s Digital Experience came to New York City on Wednesday, showcasing products from scores of vendors. Here were some of the highlights…

Memorex Blu-ray Discs. Available now for $19.99 to $29.99 SRP. Supporting high-definition (HD) video recording and compatible with Blu-ray capable recorders, the new Blu-ray recordable and rewritable discs from Memorex offer faster transfer speeds than recordable DVD media. One disc holds 25 GB of content and is able to store two hours of HD-quality video. The discs are protected with DuraLayer Technology, which shields against dirt and debris.

Westinghouse LVM-47w1 HDTV. Available now for $2,999 SRP. The new 47-inch model LCD display features a flat panel and 1080 progressive scan (1080p) resolution. The LVM-47w1 also offers six HD input connectors. 6.5ms response time and 1200:1 contrast ratio. Its 176-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles and 16:9 aspect ratio provide a wide range of clear images for viewing movies, surfing the Internet or playing video games.

Panasonic SA-XR700 Blu-ray Disc Receiver. Available in September 2006 for $999.95 SRP. As part of Panasonic’s new Blu-ray Disc High Definition Home Theater system, the SA-XR700 offers an advanced dual amplifier with up to 7.1 channels. The receiver is wireless- and XM satellite-ready. Other features include 192 kHz/24- bit Audio A/D converter for analog input and 3 HDMI connections (2 in and 1 out).

Shure E500PTH Sound Isolating Earphones. Available in July 2006 for $499. The E500 offers three miniature Hi-Definition Drivers, featuring one tweeter and two woofers. Shure’s sound isolation feature blocks 30-37dB of outside noise, and flexible sleeves contour to the ear for fit and comfort during use. The detachable Push-To-Hear Control allows the listener to adjust external noise levels without removing earphones. -Rachel Gerds
