Amazon’s new Kindle 2 device became available for purchase Monday, a day earlier than previously announced. The device, which is thinner and sports more memory and battery life than its predecessor, retails for $359.
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported, the Canadian bookseller Indigo Books & Music has released a "Kindle Killer" known as Shortcovers, which is available as an app for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android, with other smart phone applications on the way.
CEO Jeff Bezos appeared on "The Daily Show" Monday to discuss the new device.
