Greenpeace Tuesday released its latest "Guide to Greener Electronics" rankings of major CE brands, with Nokia once again finishing first and Samsung coming in second. Those brands were in fact the only ones in the rankings to earn higher than a 6 (out of 10.)
Nintendo, once again, finished last, followed by HP, Microsoft and Lenovo.
The group said it was penalizing a trio of major computer manufacturers- HP, Lenovo and Dell- for backing off a promise to stop using vinyl plastic (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) by the end of this year. Greenpeace did praise Apple, however, for eliminating PVCs and BFRs from all of its products save for power cords.
