Best Buy is planning in the coming weeks to roll out 3D products at its stores nationwide, according to a report over the weekend on HDGuru.com.
Best Buy has already planned a media event in New York, on Wednesday, March 10, to show 3D products from Panasonic that include its 3D home theater system. The HDGuru report, citing a source, claimed that a further rollout will begin later in March, with Samsung 3D TVs and Blu-ray players demonstrated at more than 900 Best Buy stores.
In addition, the Japanese daily Nikkei- as cited by Reuters- reported Saturday that Best Buy was “tying up” with Panasonic for sales of 3D TVs, which could include exhibition corners demonstrating the products. The displays will begin appearing in urban Best Buy stores, and roll out beyond by year's end.
The Samsung rollout, HDGuru said, will include a promotion based around the 3D Blu-ray release of the movie “Monsters vs. Aliens,” which will include 3D glasses. Best Buy CEO Brian Dunn said at International CES in January that the company was looking at 3D glasses as an accessory opportunity.
