The long-awaited James Cameron movie "Avatar," which is being released Friday after more than 10 years of planning, is part of a multimedia marketing campaign for LG. The campaign includes both a television commercial and a special microsite.
The commercial features the trailer of "Avatar" being projected from an LG eXpo smartphone, while the microsite can be viewed at www.lgexpo.com. A Facebook page has also been set up, with help from both MTV and Fox, the studio behind "Avatar."
"Avatar was created using a revolutionary technology with a new generation of special effects to tell this story. I was grateful to have the opportunity to work with a cast and crew that allowed me to take risks," Cameron, best known for directing "Titanic," "Aliens" and the "Terminator" pictures, said as part of the announcement. "To be supported by a brand such as LG Mobile Phones, which continually strives to push technological boundaries, provided additional reinforcement for this endeavour."
Panasonic has also been running a multimedia marketing campaign pegged to the release of the film.
