The Pioneer Dome continued its trek throughout the country, making a stop in New York City on Thursday for Digital Downtown. The Dome allows young people to experience Pioneer’s mobile audio products through 360 degrees of product imagery, video, music, demo vehicles and DJ performances in a 50-foot dome-shaped structure.

Matthew Pekmezian, Senior Brand Manager, Marketing Mobile Entertainment Division, believes that Digital Downtown and events like this really help educate the public. “This is a really cool thing. When CEA asked us to do this, we were more than happy. It’s not only beneficial to Pioneer but to the consumer as well,” Pekmezian said.

Some of the Pioneer products showcased in the dome included the AVIC-F Series. With advanced navigation features and functional entertainment capabilities, the AVIC-F700BT, AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F90BT can fit into any typical consumer lifestyle. Each of the in-dash navigation systems, sporting a 5.8-inch high resolution WVGA touch panel display, includes Apple iPod connectivity, Bluetooth, MSN Direct (With a paid MSN subscription, users will receive updated traffic, weather forecasts, gas prices and movie times for more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada), HD radio, XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, single CD, DVD video playback and compressed audio and video playback through USB and SD memory devices.

In addition, all three systems sport VoiceBox Technologies, allowing users to control connected iPod players and compatible Bluetooth-enabled cell phones by voice. Each system uses flash memory to obtain quicker mapping information, and the comprehensive map database (12 million points of interest) from Tele Atlas covers the entire U.S., Canada, Alaska and Hawaii.

The AVIC-F700BT will have an MSRP of $850, the AVIC-F900BT will be $1,100 and the Premier AVIC-F90BT will be $1,200. All will be available this month.

“A lot of what consumers are demanding includes safety first and good sound quality. We want to ensure that the journey in the vehicle is fun,” says Ed Sachs, President, Mobile Electronics, for Pioneer.
