Music Review: Consortium: 13th Hour (Angel Air, CD)

The label may say it was recorded in 2009, but this new CD from reunited 1960s British band Consortium, who hit the charts in 1969 with “All the Love in the World” sounds like it could have been cut in, say, 1973. That's not a bad thing. With all of the glossy, auto-tuned productions we hear these days, it's refreshing to listen to a real band playing real instruments. The band, which has seen its songs featured in many movies in recent years, does a new version of “All the Love …” on this reunion disc, along with some tuneful new compositions.
