“Due to strong customer demand, Kindle is temporarily sold out,” according to a note on the Kindle 3's product page as of Monday afternoon. “Order now to reserve your place in line. Orders are prioritized on a first come, first served basis. Orders placed today are expected to ship on or before September 4th.”
The Kindle 3's Wi-Fi edition, introduced last week, retails for $139.
Amazon has sold out of its initial stock of Kindle 3 ereaders, just days after the new device was announced last week. And it will take more than a month for those ordering the device to receive their Kindle.
