Best Buy Readies Movie Downloads

Best Buy is preparing to launch a video-on-demand service called Blue Sky Video, according to a post on the company's Reward Zone Twitter account this week.

Dow Jones Newswires later reported that the service will allow “one free movie rental download each month” to be downloaded by Reward Zone Premier Silver members.

“Blue Sky Video is actually something that will be coming out soon and there will be more information to follow shortly,” the author, a Best Buy employee named Sarah, posted to the Reward Zone Twitter account Tuesday.

Best Buy had announced last fall that it had reached a deal with Sonic Solutions' Roxio CinemaNow to develop an on-demand service. The service is expected to compete with Vudu, which was recently purchased by Walmart.

Best Buy in February had posted a survey on Twitter to pick a logo for the Blue Sky service.
