TiVo has announced the arrival of its two latest products, the TiVo Premiere and TiVo Premiere XL boxes, which will function not only as a DVR, but as a cable box, and movie, Web and music device as well. It is being pitched under the slogan “One Box to Rule Them All.”
The new product is more than a mere recorder- it allows easy search of not only TV listings, but also Netflix and online availability.
“The beauty of TiVo Premiere is that finding what to watch is just as fun as the watching the TV shows themselves. We accomplished it by using pictures and graphics to make the whole television guide experience come alive in a way that it never has before,” TiVo’s President and CEO, Tom Rogers, said as part of the announcement.
“TiVo Premiere is your new cable box, it’s your movie box, it’s your web box, and music box; it’s the one box that can give you access to almost anything you want, whenever you want it.”
The Premiere box can hold 400 hours of SD content and 45 hours of HD; the Premiere XL ups those numbers to 150 and 1350 hours, respectively. It can work with cable, FiOS, and antennas, and features HDMI, component video, composite video, optical audio and analog audio outputs, as well as 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p output modes.
The boxes will arrive at retail in early April, at MSRPs of $299.99 and $499.99, respectively.
