Qualcomm is exhibiting previews of new live media applications for its Snapdragon-enabled smartbook devices at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, the company said.

The new FLO TV-enabled apps will combine live TV viewing– no buffering or downloading– with real-time web accessibility, social networking capabilities, and personal digital media storage and access.   The list includes possibilites such as a live Twitter feed, Local Buzz, live breaking news updates, Sportscast, video-on-demand carousel of clips and a Library of e-magazines.

These apps embody Qualcomm's view of the future of broadcast mobile media, one in which, according to FLO TV Inc.'s Bill Stone, people can “watch TV and “Tweet” with friends and other viewers all while accessing a full range of relevant content.”  Qualcomm will also unveil the Zinio Reader application on a Windows-based computer, illustrating FLO TV's capabilities in regards to data-intensive multimedia files transferred over dedicated networks in order to free 3G networks for other services.
