Microsoft is planning to expand the content available on its Xbox Live service, and is negotiating with Disney about the possibility of bringing ESPN content to the network, the New York Times reported Monday.
According to the report, Microsoft has had “in-depth discussions” with Disney, which owns the popular sports network, about making live streams of sporting events available on Xbox Live, for a per-subscriber fee.
The Xbox Live service, has had Netflix as a content partner since 2008, has been called a “cable channel” by Microsoft since its launch.
