After a several-week battle that played out both on the airwaves and in court, AT&T and Verizon Wireless have agreed to drop their dispute. At least, the in-court part of it.
According to the AP, AT&T has agreed to drop the suit it filed against Verizon over its "There’s a Map For That" advertising campaign, which included a map of AT&T’s 3G coverage area that AT&T claimed was misleading. Verizon had earlier sued AT&T over a "more bars in more places" advertisement in a previous TV ad.
Both companies have taken aim at the other in holiday ads so far, with Verizon placing the iPhone in a Rankin-and-Bass-like "Isle of Misfit Toys," and AT&T placing actor Luke Wilson on a giant map of AT&T’s coverage area.
