On Monday, Sprint announced the availability of the Dell Inspiron Mini 10, their first foray into the netbook category. The device is available now in the Bay Area for $199.99 with a two-year contract and Sprint Mobile Broadband Plan (5GB for $59.99 per month) and $100 mail-in rebate. The netbook uses Sprint’s EV-DO Rev. A wireless service, with expected upload speeds of 350-500 kbps and download speeds of 600 kbps to 1.4 mbps. Peak download rates hit 3.1 Mbps and uploads can reach 1.8 Mbps.
The netbook weighs in at 2.6 lbs with dimensions of 10.3 inches x 7.2 inches x 1.1 inches and sports a 10.1-inch screen. It runs Windows Home XP SP3 and houses a 1.3MP webcam and 160 GB hard drive.
