At CEDIA Expo in Atlanta this week, Pioneer entered the iPod dock and soundbar categories.

Its top-line XW-NAS5 docking system ($499) includes DSP processing and uses a proprietary Pioneer volume-regulating technology. The HTPSB300 soundbar system ($499) with wireless subwoofer has Dolby TruHD processing  and is suited for use with 32- to 37-inch displays.

Also shown were two “concept products” The ACCO In-Wall Networked Music System, which is an iPhone dock with a 20-watt digital amplifier, built-in Wi-Fi, alarm clock and sleep timer. The Project Entertainment Tap (ET) is a standalone platform that can work with Blu-ray or other content sources.

Anchored with a one-terabyte hard drive, it can rip, download and stream entertainment and also offers access to stored content from networked PCs.
