Best Buy is making some moves to prepare for the rise of emerging smart-grid technologies, a company executive told the Web site GreenBiz.com this week.
The company’s senior vice president for Emerging Business, Rick Rommel, told GreenBiz that in the coming years, the company plans to take its existing experience in "in-home systems sales, support and installation and apply it to the smart grid." The company has already started selling electronic bicycles in some stores, with more to come, and other electronic vehicles may soon follow.
Rommel also told the site that the company’s Geek Squad unit will be a key part of the company’s green strategy, as it seeks to attract green-minded customers.
