I’ve always been a fan of the classic video games such as Mario Bros., Pac Man and, of course, Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat for the Nintendo Wii is no exception.
The main premise of this game is to collect as many bananas as possible, boosting your health with each banana collected. Your job is to fight off the enemies of the game in order to regain peace amongst the commonfolk. There are several "kingdoms" to conquer and three levels within each kingdom. I was able to get through the second kingdom before I was killed off by one of the "bosses" you have to beat at the end of each kingdom. The graphics were spot on, the colors bright and clear. I can’t say enough how much I enjoyed playing this game on an HDTV.
Although the game is no Legend of Zelda and doesn’t take long to complete, it kept me busy on a boring weeknight. The game is perfect for not only new gamers as the premise is fairly straightforward, but also those hardcore gamers who enjoy the thrill of a good challenge.
