GefenTV Wireless HDMI Extender Ships With 100ft Range

Gefen Inc. announced Thursday the availability of GefenTV Wireless for HDMI 5Ghz Extender, shipping now. The device operates in both a unicast and broadcast mode. The unicast mode sends HDCP compliant 1080p HDMI signals (with 5.1 digital and L/R analog audio) wirelessly up to 100 feet. The extender does not require line of sight and can send its signal through walls.
The broadcast mode sends multiple non-HDCP compliant HDTV signals to up to 5 remote receivers at once.
Gefen President and CEO Hagai Gefen said, "A Blu-ray player, set-top box, or gaming device that is HDCP compliant can be delivered to one display or projector in the home," adding that digital signage solutions could benefit most from the broadcast mode.
The device retails for $899.
