HP now holds the number one spot for PC market share in both the U.S. and worldwide, according to statistics released this week by research firm IDC.
HP had already led worldwide but, after its market share in the U.S. rose to 27.6 percent, has taken the domestic lead from Dell. Acer’s market share surged to third place, right behind Dell.
Meanwhile, U.S. shipments of PCs dropped just 3.1 percent in the most recent quarter, a much better showing than expected.
