Sony this week reached a deal to provide digital movie projectors to all AMC Entertainment movie theaters. According to the New York Times, the deal is worth $315 million and will Sony up to par with rival Texas Instruments in terms of theater projection market share.
The projectors will be installed starting this fall, with the installation finishing in 2012. The deal is part of the movie exhibition industry’s slow transition from filmed to digital projection.
