Pioneer is considering exiting the flat-panel television space in order to cut costs, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday. Pioneer confirmed to the paper that that option is on the table, after a Japanese paper reported that Pioneer planned such a move.
Under one scenario, the paper said, Pioneer would get out of TVs, but remain in the DVD player business along with Sharp. The company is set to announce earnings on Thursday.
