An executive with Belkin has been caught offering to pay Web users to write positive reviews of the company’s products on Amazon.com and other Web sites- going so far as to place an ad for users to do so on the Web Site MTurk.com.
According to the Web site The Daily Background Michael Bayard, a business development executive at the company, placed the ad on the site, offering to pay users to write five-star reviews of products, even if they haven’t actually used them. Users were also asked to mark "unhelpful" any negative reviews listed of the products.
In a statement, Belkin’s president, Mark Reynoso, called the episode "an isolated incident," and said it had pulled the offending Web postings.
