Netgear’s CES product launches this year expand upon its focus of digital connectivity throughout the home by targeting the user’s TV viewing experience.

Vivek Pathela, Netgear’s vice president and general manger of home and consumer products, showcased three of the most important launches out of the 15 its making at this year’s show.

"This year we’re taking home connectivity to the next level, focusing on the homeowners connected lifestyles," Pathela said, adding that each of the three new products focus on Internet TV and the family, people on the go, and the hardcore videophile.

Positioned correctly, the products can help retailers create fuller solution sales and installation opportunities around the flat-panel.

Consumer demand for viewing Internet video content will only increase, Pathela said, noting that almost half of the U.S. population viewed more than 13.5 billion online videos last October alone. Consumers, he said, are now looking for solutions that allow them to view the content on big-screen TVs in their living rooms and bedrooms, instead of a small PC screen.

To help solve the problem, Netgear has introduced its Internet TV Player, a set-top device with a remote control for viewing online content on HDTVs. The VuNow interface allows users to access a variety of domestic and foreign content. Slightly larger than a deck of cards, the player will hit the streets this summer with an MSRP of $199.

Next up was the 3G Mobile Broadband Wireless Router that "enables hotspots on the fly that you can share wherever you are," Pathela said. The product can be aimed at small businesses, conference rooms and even campgrounds. It include Push ‘N’ Connect WiFi Protected Setup for secure connections. The product is available this month with an MSRP of $129.

Billing it as one of the biggest "juke boxes" on the market, Pathella next unveiled the Digital Entertainer Elite, a media player with an upgradeable 500GB hard drive. The unit plays Blu-Ray quality digital video up to 1080p, high-resolution digital photos, MP3s and recorded television shows from PCs or the network. It’s compatible with with Windows, Mac and Linux computers, and NAS devices.

Backed by a one-year warranty and full 24/7 techn support, the Digital Entertainer is expected to launch next month with an MSRP of $399.
