A day after Blockbuster announced its first-ever streaming set-top box, rival Netflix sent an e-mail to subscribers Monday touting all the many ways they can receive movie and TV content instantly.
The e-mail includes pictures of the Netflix Player by Roku, the Microsoft Xbox 360, connected Blu-ray Disc players from both LG and Samsung, and TiVo, whose Netflix streaming capability is listed as “coming soon.”
The options represent the fruition of a strategy, announced by the company a year ago, to make its content available on a wide variety of platforms, by virtue of deals with electronics manufacturers. Now Blockbuster, with its 2Wire MediaPoint digital media player, is jumping into the fray as well.
