Epson America in October will ship the first model in the fourth generation of its MovieMate all-in-one home theater projector series.
The 480p, 3LCD MovieMate 55 ($699) replacing the 1,000-Lumens MovieMate 50, will up the ante in brightness, with a specification of 1,200 Lumens.
The model, the latest in the three-year-old MovieMate line, bundles a projector with a CD/upconverting DVD player and speakers in a single small-footprint chassis with a carrying handle. With a single plug-in connection to a power outlet, it is ready to project images sizes up to 120 inches for a distance of up to 12 feet, and offers widescreen 16:9 viewing and Dolby Digital DTS sound.
Epson says the 55 will be sold through outlets including Best Buy, Circuit City, amazon.com, B&H and J&R Music World.
