Garmin announced Wednesday that it will delay the release of its Nuvifone mobile handset until 2009, according to the Associated Press. The GPS-enabled phone, Garmin’s first of its kind, was scheduled to appear in the fourth quarter of this year.
The company attributed the delay to difficulty in meeting carriers’ requirements.
The announcement came in Garmin’s quarterly earnings call, as the company reported earnings of $256 million in the quarter, down from $742.5 million the same period the year before.
