Legendary rapper and music producer Dr. Dre, Interscope Chairman Jimme Lovine and Monster Cable announced Tuesday that their new high definition powered isolation headphones, “Beats by Dre,” will be available this Friday.
Beats, which has been designed to give consumers a brand new level of headphone audio performance, will be sold exclusively at Best Buy and the Apple Store at a suggested retail price of $349.95.
“Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound, but people can’t really hear it with normal headphones,” Dr. Dre said in a statement. “With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear and listen to the music the way they should – the way I do.”
Dr. Dre had appeared at January’s International CES to announce the product.
By combining new advanced materials, sophisticated construction, large drivers and a powerful digital amplifier, Monster achieved the kind of rich, high definition sound Dr. Dre was looking for. In addition, Beats will feature powered ambient noise-isolation, which recreates the quietness of a recording studio and allows consumers to hear every detail in their music.
Beats has been designed to provide maximum performance when used with all of today’s portable music devices. For consumers with an iPhone or other music-enabled phones, Beats comes with a Monster iSoniTalk headphone cable with a one touch answer button for incoming calls.
