Fuji-FinePix-XP170Perfect for sports and locations like sandy beaches and the great outdoors, this 14-megapixel FinePix is a rugged, waterproof, point-and-shoot camera you can take anywhere. It even includes wireless image transfer, so you can easily connect it to a smartphone or tablet and then upload your memorable moments for online sharing.

For all your outdoor adventures, the FinePix XP170 is covered by four-way protection: it is waterproof down to 33 feet; shockproof to withstand a fall of 6.5 feet; freezeproof to 14° F; and dustproof. With all this security, you’re certain to get your most daring shots—using an extremely attractive camera that is easy to use.

The XP170 is equipped with a bright 2.7-inch LCD screen with antireflective coatings that will give you clear viewing even in direct sunlight and underwater. And its 5x Fujinon wide-angle optical zoom lens (28-140mm equivalent) has a reinforced glass barrier and water-repellent coating. Plus, it provides a Full HD movie mode and underwater movie mode that let you record life under the waves in superb quality.

With its advanced imaging prowess, the camera captures higher quality pictures you would otherwise miss with a smartphone that cannot be exposed to the elements, wet weather and cold temperatures. Plus you still get the connectivity benefits of a smartphone.

“Sharing photos online has become the best and fastest way to show your family and friends your favorite images, and the versatile and durable FinePix XP170 lets users capture images in more places, and then offers easy sharing with its innovative wireless image transfer function,” said David Troy, director, Marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging, Fujifilm North America Corporation. “With its four-way protection, the XP170 can become your go-to camera that you aren’t afraid to get wet, be dropped or even frozen or covered in dirt and mud—it will still deliver fantastic photos and HD movies every time.”

The durable FinePix XP170 features fast start-up and shot-to-shot times, fast autofocus, 10-frames-per-second continuous shooting and an antislip rubber grip. Its powerful CMOS-shift image stabilization (CIS) works as the photo is being taken to combat camera/hand shake and subject movement. Not only will this give you better images in low light, but with CIS working in the background you can capture sharp, colorful scenes and portraits underwater. There’s also a bright LED light that shows you the way in the dark.

Created specifically to capture action shots, the camera’s autofocus system will track fast-moving subjects so they don’t escape from the frame in a blur. That means your toddler will be tracked automatically for as long as he is kept in the frame and the shutter is half-pressed. When you fully press the shutter button, he will be in the center of the photo in perfect focus.

Other user-friendly features include: 360° motion panorama mode that automatically creates a stunning panoramic picture of the scene before you, whether vertical or horizontal; scene recognition auto mode that identifies the scene and shooting conditions and picks the best settings; and face detection and automatic red-eye removal for the best people pictures.

Once you’ve capture that incredible sweeping vista, or that school of tropical fish beneath the waves, the FinePix XP170’s innovative wireless image transfer function lets you connect it to a smartphone or tablet. Once connected, you can upload your photos and video to social networking sites like YouTube and Facebook in just seconds.

To take advantage of this great feature, all you have to do is download the free Fujifilm Photo Receiver app to your mobile device and follow the simple instructions. To start uploading, you just press the XP170’s connect button to join to a device and transfer begins.

Fujifilm offers an accessory kit for the XP170 that contains a floating strap, protective silicone skin and a neoprene sports case. The FinePix XP170 comes in a choice of blue or orange. $279.95. fujifilmusa.com
