Lake Success, NY—Canon USA’s PowerShot SX30 IS digital camera offers innovative features to help photo enthusiasts further develop their photographic capabilities. Canon is positioning the SX30 IS as “the world’s first point-and-shoot model to feature a 35x wide-angle optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization,” to make long-distance shots easier.
The SX30 IS also provides 720p HD (high-definition) video capabilities, playback of audio in stereo sound and a new miniature effect for movies mode.
“Whether on vacation with the family or on assignment for work, consumers are always looking for the best way to capture that memorable moment,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice president and general manager, Consumer Imaging, Canon USA. “The addition of these new cameras illustrates Canon’s commitment to providing them with greater shooting flexibility while preserving Canon’s heritage as an industry leader in not only still photography but the world of HD video as well.”
Geared for photo enthusiasts capturing images or videos at sporting events or special occasions, the SX30 IS’s new super telephoto lens ranges from an ultra-wide 24mm to a maximum length of 840mm. Helping to make capture easier is a new zoom framing assist button that aids in the tracking and capturing of subjects from a great distance away while keeping the lens in focus. Often at extreme telephoto settings, holding a camera unsteady can cause the user to lose track of the subject and make it difficult to find the subject, but this zoom framing assist button lets users zoom out, find the subject and then zoom back in.
The PowerShot SX30 IS also features 14.1 megapixels, Canon’s Digic 4 image processor and a 2.7-inch wide vari-angle LCD for added flexibility when trying to compose overhead or low-to-the-ground images. In addition, the PowerShot SX30 IS for the first time uses a lithium ion rechargeable battery rather than the standard AA batteries found on previous models. $429.99. usa.canon.com
