Canon-Live-LearningCanon USA released the 2013 Canon Live Learning (CLL) workshops and programs schedule. The on-site program, in its fourth year, is aimed at helping both advanced imaging enthusiasts and professionals elevate their knowledge of photography, filmmaking and the technologies within Canon’s professional imaging and printing devices.

CLL programs feature the EOS Immersion seminars, EOS Destination workshops and Canon Professional Development seminars and workshops. Each were developed to offer an educational experience that will provide informative classes and hands-on instruction by imaging professionals, including Canon’s Explorers of Light (EOL).

As in previous years, the 2013 EOS Immersion seminars and workshops will be presented in a weekend format with the EOS Immersion seminar on Saturday followed by the choice of two EOS Immersion workshops on Sunday. The EOS Immersion workshop hosts participants in a studio setting where they will be taught photographic and HD video techniques, and where they are encouraged to try Canon’s latest EOS equipment and accessories.

Canon representatives will provide technical assistance at all CLL events to help ensure any questions and concerns can be answered accurately and immediately. For more information on CLL, including the schedule of classes and pricing information, visit usa.canon.com/canonlivelearning.

In 2013, the first half of the EOS Immersion series will be held in the following cities: Los Angeles, California, March 23–24, 2013; Boston, Massachusetts, April 20–21; Seattle, Washington, May 18–19; and New York City, New York, June 8–9.

The EOS Immersion seminar features a full day of lectures and demonstrations on the latest techniques, configurations and creative insights for Canon DSLR users. Highlights include: essential controls and configurations of an EOS camera for the results users want; essentials of storytelling using the HD video capability of an EOS camera; and understanding the technical and creative potential of the Canon Speedlite system, including its integrated wireless control system. In addition, Canon tech reps will answer questions and give demonstrations of EOS imaging products and Canon printers. A registration fee of $89 is required to attend the EOS Immersion seminar.

The EOS Creative Lighting with Speedlites workshop is meant to inspire users to creatively control flash in a range of locations and situations. Demonstrations by pro photographer Jeff Greene will feature basic flash photography concepts to multiflash creative techniques used by professionals. All Speedlite workshops take place in a professional studio, giving attendees the opportunity to shoot with Canon products throughout the day, as well as the chance to utilize Canon’s professional printing devices to receive sample prints of some of their work. The workshop will also have models to photograph, lighting modifiers and teaching assistants. A registration fee of $325 is required to attend the Creative Lighting with Speedlites workshops.

The EOS HD Video Storytelling: Real Life Techniques workshop is designed to help attendees maximize the video capabilities of Canon’s EOS cameras. This intimate hands-on video workshop, featuring the expertise of award-winning photojournalist Sharon Levy Freed, highlights the fundamentals of storytelling as she guides participants through the primary aspects of creating a compelling visual story. Core skills to be covered include camera configuration, the best gear and accessories to maximize the imaging experience, story development, character recognition, sequencing, camera operation and an editing overview. There is a registration fee of $325.

The EOS Destination workshops provide a two–four day experience, where enthusiasts and professionals will learn both in the field from a Canon EOL and through classroom instruction and personal critiques. Topics include composition, environmental portraits, wildlife, essential techniques of the Canon Speedlite system and tips for effective lighting control in an outdoor environment. In addition, attendees will be able to print samples of some of their photos.

Depending on the workshop attended, attendees will shoot with Canon products against some of America’s most beautiful backdrops, including the waterfalls, mountains and wildlife in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, the world of the butterflies living within the Denver Botanic Gardens or the dramatic landscapes of the Maroon Bells mountains in Aspen. Canon also is offering a Destination workshop at Lake Clark National Park in Alaska from July 21–July 24 and July 24–27. Canon EOL Jennifer Wu will present lectures and instruction in the field to capture the Coastal Brown Bears and other animals of the region against the backdrops of Alaska’s mountains and rivers.
