Camera Review

Valhalla, NY—The Fujifilm FinePix XP30 is geared for active families on the go that want a camera they can take anywhere without worrying about rain, mud, snow or sand—or even the occasional drop or bump. Fujifilm has improved the “life-proofness” of the XP30, which is “4 Proof”: waterproof to 16.5 feet; shockproof to withstand a 5 foot fall; freezeproof to 14° F; and dustproof.

Other features include: 14 megapixels, a Fujinon 5x wide-angle refractive (internal) optical zoom lens (28mm equivalent) with a reinforced hardened glass barrier; a 2.7-inch antireflective LCD screen; dual image stabilization (sensor shift + high ISO); SR auto mode; face detection; and 720p HD video capture. The XP30 also introduces GPS geogtagging functionality to the line, which allows the camera to add GPS coordinates to captured images’ EXIF data. Photographers can then sort/search by GPS, find points of interest nearby, photo-navigate to sites they’ve visited before and even edit their journeys on the PC with popular software mapping programs and sites.

The FinePix XP30 is available in black, silver, blue, green and orange. $229.95.

The FinePix XP20 is also a new addition to Fujifilm’s rugged XP digital camera series, and it offers identical features to the XP30 except for GPS. The XP20 will be available late March 2011 at $199.95. fujifilmusa.com
