Fujifilm-XP200-reviewA photographic companion for all seasons, this ruggedly cool-looking point & shoot offers the ultimate adventureproof features: it’s waterproof to a depth of 50 feet, shockproof from a height of 6.6 feet, freezeproof to 14ºF, and dustproof. It also has a double-sealed battery door lock for enhanced protection.

“The XP200 is the ultimate outdoor camera for every extreme athlete and outdoor enthusiast who wants to capture their adventures and share them quickly and easily online,” said David Troy, director of Marketing, Digital Cameras, Electronic Imaging, Fujifilm North America Corp. “By creating a camera that handles serious depths, ice, sand, and drops, the XP200 is designed to inspire confidence and deliver clear, sharp images and Full HD video wherever you go.”

The FinePix XP200 uses a 16-megapixel sensor with CMOS shift image stabilization to produce sharp, clear images, even in challenging light. It also provides an internal 5x optical zoom Fujinon lens (28–140mm equivalent) that allows you to get close to the action, even beneath the waves. And with its digital zoom, the camera doubles the range to 10x.

The XP200 combines its extreme durability with easy wireless image transfer to instantly share your outdoor antics. With its wireless feature, you can transfer photos and movies from the camera to smartphones, tablets, and computers—no wireless LAN access point or ID and password entry required. Once transferred, you can upload them to social networking sites in seconds. To connect the camera to a smartphone or tablet, download the free Fujifilm Camera app to your iPhone/iPad or Android device and transfer up to 30 pictures at a time from the XP200. The app also lets you download movies.

Also using its Wi-Fi capability, the XP200 will easily back up photos on your home computer. Install the free Fujifilm PC AutoSave software onto the computer, select a folder to back up to, link a Wi-Fi router to the XP200, and the camera automatically backs up your photos to the PC.

In addition, the FinePix XP200 has all the speed you need to capture fast action, including two high-speed shooting modes: 10-frames-per-second continuous shooting mode at 16MP full resolution; and an ultra-high-speed continuous shooting mode at 60 fps and reduced resolution. As a plus, a burst mode button on the top of the camera enables you to access this mode instantly without fumbling through menus.

Other features include: Full HD 1080i movie capture and high-speed recording at 240 fps for incredible slow motion playback; in-camera movie editing; a vibrant 3.0-inch LCD monitor with an antireflective coating for viewing even in bright sunlight; motion panorama 360; 3D effects; and artistic filter effects. These creative options are: pop color; toy camera for a retro look;
 miniature; partial color that selects one color and takes the rest of the shot in black and white; soft focus; high key, which increases overall brightness and reduces contrast
; and cross screen to add starbursts around bright objects.

The Fujifilm FinePix XP200 comes in a choice of yellow, black, blue, and red bodies. $299.95. fujifilmusa.com
