Secaucus, NJ—Samsung Electronics announced the ST6500, ST30, ST95, ST90 and ST65 compact digital cameras—the latest additions to its ultra-slim, stylish design range that are engineered to deliver a balance between style and functionality.
“Today’s launch further establishes Samsung’s position of leadership, setting the benchmark for the latest high performing camera designs,” said Hyunho Chung, executive vice president and head of the Digital Imaging business of Samsung Electronics. “It is an important landmark for Samsung, reinforcing our position as a leading innovator in the digital camera market and showing our belief in design-led innovation.”
ST6500. Incorporating the latest angled design, with the camera’s body curved around the lens and angled at 7 degrees for a more ergonomic fit in the hand, the ST6500 is equipped with a 16 megapixel sensor alongside a 26mm wide-angle 5x zoom lens. Its new Smart Touch 3.0 user interface works with a 3.0-inch multipurpose touch-screen LCD, so users can quickly access, manage and use key functions. The camera also offers Samsung’s Smart Auto feature that automatically adjusts the settings for the best shot. Other features include: 720p HD movie recording with additional voice recording; built-in image editing and a creative shooting tool suite; magic frame capability, made up of 12 predefined templates with multiple background properties to create unique images formatted as postcards and posters; and Smart Filter 2.0, with enhanced video filtering features, including several professional color options, so users can add creativity to their videos. Filters include a miniaturizing effect, compositional contrast with a vignetting filter and fisheye effects. The ST6500 will be available in March. $229.
ST30. Its tiny size and compact design—about the size of a cell phone—means the ST30 can fit into a handbag or pocket. It features a unique design finished with a metal body, and whatever the color of the user’s outfit, the ST30 has a color to match it. Featured are: Smart Auto; an internal battery charging system; a 28mm lens and 3x power optical zoom; digital image stabilization; 10.1 megapixels; face detection; and red-eye fix. $99.99.
ST95, ST90 and ST65. This ultra-slim trio comes in a variety of fashion color options. Featured are a 26mm wide lens on the ST95 and ST90, and a 27mm wide lens on the ST65, plus 5x optical zoom. The camera range also boasts 16 megapixels for the ST95 and 14MP for the ST90 and ST65. Again, the Smart Auto system is provided, with 16 landscape and portrait modes (15 modes on the ST65) to automatically select the appropriate settings. All three cameras record 720p HD movies, and the ST95 supports H.264 codec to provide longer recording capabilities compared to models with MPEG-4 or MJPEG. The ST95 also employs the Smart Touch 3.0 user interface and a 3.0-inch LCD touch screen. MSRPs are: ST95, $199.99; ST90 $149.99; ST65, $129.99.
The ST range also includes Smart Album functions that automatically organize photos by type, date and by face recognition, so user can find specific people in their photos. samsung.com
