Gardena, CA—General Imaging (GIC), the worldwide licensee of GE digital cameras, unveiled the latest additions to its Power, Power Pro and Smart series—and the brand’s first handheld 1080p HD digital video camera in its Active series.

The DV1 is a colorful, pocketsize and waterproof camera that has a flip-out USB plug for connecting to a PC and uploading HD videos and photos for sharing. Specs state it is not only waterproof to 16 feet but is shockproof to five feet and dustproof.

In addition to 5MP still photo capture, it features one-touch Full HD 1080p movie recording capabilities combined with other functions to make it a grab-and-go video camera designed for simple one-hand operation. And, a built-in HDMI jack offers Full HD output and easy connection to HDTVs.

Other features include: a 2.5-inch LCD with automatic brightness adjustment; image stabilization to compensate for unwanted camera movement when capturing video; face detection; underwater modes; red-eye removal; High Dynamic Range, which adjusts the camera’s exposure to provide more picture detail; a built-in Lithium Ion battery said to provide 80 minutes of continuous video recording and that can be charged via a USB connection to a PC or via a traditional outlet with the supplied adapter; and support for SD/SDHC cards up to 32GB.

In GE’s Active series, the DV1 is available in five bright colors: lime green, aqua blue, citrus orange, red velvet and graphite gray. $129.99. general-imaging.com/us/
