Secaucus, NJ—Panasonic’s 14.1 megapixel Lumix DMC-ZS8 digital camera was added to its ZS series of cameras and maintains the versatile 24mm ultra-wide-angle, 16x optical zoom Leica DC Vario-Elmar lens. It also offers a 3.0-inch 230,000-dot intelligent LCD screen.
Key features include: Panasonics iA mode suite of automatic functions for worry-free shooting, including Power OIS (optical image stabilization) to minimize the effects of hand-shake on both close-ups and telephoto shots; intelligent ISO control for better low-light shooting; intelligent scene selector where the camera selects the best scene for conditions and subjects; face recognition; intelligent exposure; and manual exposure.
The DMC-ZS8 also offers 720p HD video recording in the Motion JPEG format and Intelligent Resolution technology, which adds detail that exceeds optical image quality in both photo and movie recording. And, once users focus on a subject, the AF tracking function automatically tracks it until the shutter is pressed. When taking images of an active subject, like children or pets, this function eliminates the need to press the shutter button halfway down repeatedly to readjust the focus.
Also included is the Lumix Uploader; when users checkmark the photos and movies they want to share, and connect the camera or SD/SDHC/SDXC card to a computer, uploading to Facebook or YouTube automatically starts by simply following the guidance.
Panasonic’s Lumix ZS8 is available in black and silver. $299.99. panasonic.com
