Secaucus, NJ—Samsung Electronics Co. announced firmware upgrades for two products within its NX compact system camera range—the NX100 and NX10. Following the availability of the i-Function lens feature on both models, the latest upgrades are set to make the cameras more convenient to use.
“We continually look for ways to improve the photography experience, to make it more fun and add value for our customers. The latest upgrade is reflective of this,” said Hyunho Chung, executive vice president and head of the Digital Imaging business for Samsung Electronics. “Users of the NX system already benefit from key features such as compact portability of the devices, and innovations like the i-Function lens. Through ongoing developments, we hope to offer even more to enable photographers of all levels to get the best results and professional-looking pictures every time. We look forward to announcing a number of additional developments in the future to make the NX range even easier for our customers to use.”
Users of the NX100 and NX10 cameras can now benefit from the availability of the panorama shot in scene mode, using the cameras’ wide-angle lenses to capture more within their landscape images.
In addition, when using the 50-200mm II lens, photographers will now be able to benefit from optical image stabilization (OIS), which can be selected by using the menu system on the camera’s screen. Other enhancements include an improved movie autofocus for improved steadiness of video when moving from subject to subject, and an enhanced contrast autofocus to deliver clearer low contrast shots, even in low light. The firmware upgrade is also designed to make these functions faster and quieter.
Through the upgraded firmware, the NX100 and NX10 now provide the i-Function setting help guide via the cameras’ displays. This feature guides users with explanations on different functions of the i-Function lens.
The upgrades are now available for NX100 and NX10 customers to download at samsung.com.
